Why can't I use one FileDocs account for multiple clients?
Because iFolder synchronizes files almost instantaneously. Even if you quickly move the files from the individual folders out of the directory structure synchronized by iFolder, there is a possibility that files for (as an example) Client A would be synchronized at Client B's location, constituting a security breach. You may want to see all the files for each client, but you certainly don't want your clients to get the files for another account!

Can I have more than one FileDocs account?
Yes, you can. However, if you plan on accessing all your accounts from a single computer, you will need to log in to each account separately and wait for synchronization before logging out of one and logging into the next account. At this time, iFolder does not simultaneously sync multiple accounts on a single computer.

Can I use the sync behind my corporate firewall?
Yes, you can. The iFolder sync uses port 80, which almost every firewall has open to allow corporate workers to browse the web.

Are my files secure?
Your files are encrypted on the server with 128 bit encryption called Blowfish, keeping your files safe. Note that your files are not encrypted on your own computers, the encryption is only on the server and when you are communicating with the server. Communications with the server are encrypted using SSL.

What are my computer requirements?
The client runs on the Windows 98/ME, Windows 2000 Professional, and XP Home and Professional.

For web access, you must have a web browser from any platform if the browser is Java and SSL-enabled. (Most recent browsers fulfill this requirement). Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher and Firefox will work.

Can I access my files with my PDA?
Yes! If your PDA supports a web browser using SSL, you can access your files with your PDA. Windows CE and recent versions of the Palm OS have built-in web browsers. There is no automatic synchronization for PDA's, but you will still be able to use your files.

Do I have to download the client?
You must download the client and access FileDocs server on at least one location, to set the passphrase. Otherwise, you may access your files through a web browser. However, the client is the piece that automatically updates your files to the secure server, so it is a good idea to install the client.

How do I sync Outlook Express on 2 or more computers?
Install the iFolder client on any computers where you want the information stored. Change where your Outlook Express email is stored (do this for both computers).

There's an issue, however. If you don't sync before you check your email, the files may overwrite each other, which would mean you could lose mail. Ensure that you do a sync first. This means that you need to set your Outlook Express only for manual checking of your email, not automatic.

Can I change the C:\My Documents\iFolder to a different directory?
Yes, you can choose which directory on the hard drive you want for the iFolder directory at the time of installation.

We strongly suggest maintaining the account name as part of the directory structure; i.e.,

c:\[root directory]\[account name]\

What happens when a file is deleted in iFolder?
The file is deleted from your local machine, which is then synchronized to the server, and finally synchronized to any other machines that you may log in to with the iFolder client. If you accidentally deleted the file, you can either undelete from the trash bin (also known as the conflict bin) or connect to the FileDocs server using a browser and download the file. Be careful not to use the iFolder client to connect, or it will delete the file from the server. If you deleted the file while logged in to the FileDocs server, your only choice is the conflict bin. You can see what's in the conflict bin by right-clicking on the iFolder icon in your toolbar and choosing "View Conflict Bin".

Is iFolder like a backup?
It's similar, but not the same. iFolder will keep an exact copy of whatever you have in your iFolder directory on your hard drive. So if you delete a file, it will be deleted on the server at the next synch.

What is the Pass Phrase?
The pass phrase encrypts your files whereas your password is to allow you to log in to your client account. You can make these the same, but it isn't recommended for security purposes.

How do I install the client?
Detailed instructions for installing the client are on the AlphaBest FileDocs home page. Once you sign up for service, you will be provided a link. A PDF file of simplified instructions is available here.

My computer crashed and burned! How do I get my files back?
When you get your new hard drive or computer set up with Windows installed, download the iFolder client and your files will automatically be downloaded to your new system.

What happens if I lose my password?
TalkDocs/AlphaBest is not able to read your password or pass phrase. We can change the passphrase without knowing the old one. Your assigned password will always be the same. However, you will decide what pass phrase to use. If you lose the pass phrase, we can reset it, after which the client will automatically re-sync your files to the server. We will still not be able to access your files, as the pass phrase must still be assigned by you at the next login.

Can I have all my computers logged in at the same time?
Yes. When you are working on your files on one computer, the changes will automatically be synchronized to all the others.

Can I sync multiple folders on a single PC?
You can sync multiple folders within the iFolder folder system.

You cannot simultaneously synchronize multiple FileDocs account folders at this time.

How do I change my password?
Because of the Blowfish encryption algorithm, you cannot change your password once it is set. The Blowfish algorithm uses a combination of your password and your passphrase to encrypt your files. If either is changed, the files would not be usable on the server. Note that this does not change the files on any of your workstations. If you would like to change your password, you would first copy all your files to a temporary location, contact filedocs@talkdocs.com and request the password you prefer. Note that even if you send your password, only you will know your pass phrase and only you will be able to access your files. After your password has been changed, you may copy your files back into your iFolder and they will re-sync with the server.

I'm getting a 105 error!
This can be due to a few different problems, but essentially it means you can't connect to the server. The first thing you should do is make sure you are actually connected to the Internet. If so, then ensure you have downloaded any updates for your computer. Go to windowsupdate.microsoft.com and download all patches. If that doesn't fix it, run the Internet Connection Wizard again on your computer. The iFolder client depends on having the wizard run at least once. Also, ensure that you have the correct login name and password. If you are still unable to sync, contact filedocs@talkdocs.com

Can I synchronize my Favorites?
Move your Favorites folder to your iFolder directory on each of the computers that you wish to synchronize.
